The NE Pod are making connections in the community. On Friday morning we visited Gonville Kindergarten to meet the teachers and future children of Carlton. We were greeted with a porwhiri and ate shared kai together. The children had a fantastic time playing in their wonderful learning spaces. Friday mornings are dedicated for visiting pre-schools or for our class to go visit them.
Mrs Budge read us a story called Making a Rabbit and we used the information to create our own rabbits.
We also had an easter egg hunt in the classroom and then wrote some cool easter stories. We will be publishing the stories soon so you can come and read them.
Our big book this week was 'The Farm Concert' by Joy Cowley.
We looked at punctuation like speech marks, exclamation marks and full stops. We practiced making our animal noises and changing our volume depending on the size of the writing. Our popwords were 'the' and 'went'.
We have loved swimming this term. We have learnt how to do a safe entry and exit. We practiced putting our head under water, blowing bubbles and learning how to kick properly. Some of us can even pick items from the bottom of the pool.
However, our most favourite part of swimming was our free time where we explored the water and tested out our skills on our own.
As part of our rich maths learning, we were set the challenge of figuring out what a group of animals that had 12 legs all together could look like. Here are our answers.
Isn't it amazing how many different combinations you could make! Did you think a group of animals that we didn't think of?
